Cold Foil Printing

Cold Foil Printing

Cold Foil Printing is an in line process that works on rotary flexo presses closely duplicating hot foil stamping… but cold foil printing is faster, more efficient, and does not require the costly dies associated with hot foil stamping. It is a valuable tool used to enhance illustrations, packaging, and labels.

The cold foil printing process is a perfect fit for low cost jobs that were printed with gold or metallised ink. These jobs have a tendency to appear as a matt colour and do not have the brilliance of foil but with a wide variety of cold foils available the possibilities are endless.

OPM offer foils that are available in a range of colours including metallics, golds and silvers, as well as holographic/diffraction and iridescent, matching many traditional hot stamping foils on the market.

Applications include;

  • Household consumables
  • Scented candles,
  • Wine, beer and spirit labels
  • Cosmetic packaging
  • Confectionery
  • Various Premium branded products

Commonly asked questions; Why use Cold Foil Instead of Hot Foil?

Traditional hot foil stamping has always been expensive and difficult to produce. Not all Printers have specialised foil stamping facilities in-house, typically because of the high cost and specialised nature of die production. The result – foil orders are printed off line or shipped out to third parties, adding significant time with longer lead times and additional expense to projects.
