Attending Labelexpo Europe 2025 in Barcelona was truly unforgettable, both personally and professionally. As the second generation in our family business and Commercial Director at OPM, I was honoured to represent our team at the industry’s biggest event.
One of the highlights was OPM being named Converter of the Year at the inaugural Labels & Labeling Global Awards. The ceremony, held at Timeout Market as part of Festa Barcelona’s opening party, brought together the label and package printing industry’s best to celebrate innovation, sustainability, and excellence. It was inspiring to see our peers recognised for their achievements, with LemuGroup winning the Innovation Award, and Bio4life taking home the Sustainability Award.
Receiving the Converter of the Year Award was a proud moment for our family-owned business, acknowledging our heritage, contribution to the label industry, and our expansion into flexible packaging technology. The recognition from a prestigious panel of industry leaders means so much to our entire team.
A personal highlight was watching my dad, Christopher Ellison, not only as MD of OPM but also chosen as an Ambassador for Labelexpo and the flexible packaging industry, sharing his journey from labels to flexible packaging. His insights into the learning curves, ups and downs, and advice for those looking to diversify were invaluable.
Labelexpo also provided the perfect opportunity to connect with suppliers old and new, discover the latest products, and discuss future innovation and partnership opportunities. For OPM, the show led to exciting investments, including the purchase of a BOBST M6 and a Grafotronic Boon-tec core cutter, with further investments planned for later this year.
Now back in Yorkshire, we’re celebrating with the team and looking forward to the possibilities our new investments will bring. It’s a great feeling to be recognised as Converter of the Year and to continue driving innovation in our industry.
Here’s to many more milestones!
