Today, we mark VE Day, commemorating the end of the Second World War in Europe.
It is a time to pause and pay tribute to the men, women and animals whose courage and determination helped bring the war in Europe to an end.
As we reflect on the freedoms we have today, and on the generations who lived through extraordinary times to secure them, we remember them with gratitude.
