OPM (Labels and Packaging) Group (‘OPM’) is supporting Ozge Bektasoglu as she runs in this year’s Hackney Half Marathon to raise money for the charity Breast Cancer Now.
“Ozge was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2019. Luckily it was caught early enough, and she is now cancer-free,” explains Susan Ellison, joint MD at OPM. “As an amateur runner, Ozge wanted to explore ways in which she could meaningfully increase breast cancer awareness, while helping to raise money for this charity. She chose running the Hackney Half Marathon as one of the methods of achieving this goal.
“Breast cancer should concern all women. Although a woman’s risk for breast cancer is highest after the age of 50, even young women can develop breast cancer,” Ozge explains.
According to the Breast Cancer Now website, almost half (47%) of women in the UK do not check their breasts regularly for potential signs of the disease.
“OPM supports Ozge’s drive to raise the awareness of breast cancer as part of the company’s sustainability strategy, where social responsibility features. We were delighted to support this cause and wish Ozge every success with her run.” Susan added.

The marathon was cancelled in 2020 due to the COVIC-19 pandemic but is back on the calendar this year. It forms part of the Hackney Festival of Fitness that celebrates health and wellness in the area.
“We are incredibly excited that on the 26th of September, Ozge will be running the Hackney Half Marathon wearing her Breast Cancer Now vest,” Susan concludes.
