The team at OPM Group are celebrating after it was shortlisted for a prestigious Made in Yorkshire Award at this year’s event.
The nomination sees OPM’s patented Thicker Label Closure (TLC) system shortlisted in the competitive Manufacturing Innovation category, with the award ceremony taking place on 9 March 2023 in a glittering dinner at the Royal Armouries in Leeds. The TLC is a next-generation solution for more sustainable wet wipe packaging that hermetically seals packs, retaining moisture and reducing waste.
Chris Ellison, Managing Director of OPM, was thrilled with the news, saying, “We’re proud to be a Yorkshire company. Yorkshire has always been a northern powerhouse of innovation and industry, something which is often overlooked in conversations about our region.

TLC technology has proven to be popular across the global wet wipe sector following its launch in 2022. Each label offers a better seal and a significant weight reduction compared to hard plastic lids, while also vastly improving the seal, durability, and curl resistance offered by traditional sticky plastic label seals.
The innovative label system will be judged by a panel of Yorkshire-based business leaders and experts. The Manufacturing Innovation category is open to any product or process designed or manufactured in the Yorkshire region.
This year’s awards are expected to be the biggest yet after event organiser Insider Media Ltd announced it was moving the ceremony from its traditional home of the Leeds Hilton to the larger Royal Armouries Hall.
Ellison added, “It’s a special honour for us to have our product considered alongside our Yorkshire colleagues at the biggest awards ceremony yet. We’ll be celebrating our nomination with a mug of Yorkshire tea, of course – good luck to everyone nominated on the night!”
