OPM Group’s first factory open day aimed at apprenticeships, work experience and recruitment was a roaring success!
We welcomed visitors of all ages to our Leeds-based site, where they were introduced to the world of print by our very own Arnie Ellison!
After an initial safety debrief, an introductory presentation about our history, services, print apprenticeships, print recruitment, & print work experience offering. We asked participants to think about print and what it means to them, many confessed that they hadn’t thought about the print sector or how flexible packaging and self-adhesive labels were made. Arnie highlighted the fact that on a daily basis everyone interacts with print in one form or another, we shared more about our services and the brands we work with. Our visitors were surprised that some of their favourite global brands have their self-adhesive labels & flexible packaging printed right here in Leeds!
Our team & guests got kitted up with the relevant PPE, and we began our factory tour. For many, it was the first time they had stepped foot in a factory. Arnie showed the participants each department and pointed out special site and equipment features that set us apart from our competitors, such as our critically controlled print & finishing environment – Envirozone, our bespoke 14 colour flexographic press, and integrated in-line AVT to make sure that our customers receive high-quality packaging.
Arnie also explained the difference between flexographic and digital printing, and how both options have advantages which may suit different products and customers. They were able to watch some labels being printed by our digital press and then rewound on our Digicon.
It was a great opportunity to show the diversity of recruitment opportunities and how each department must work together to create show-stopping labels & flexible packaging.
The tour was rounded up with an opportunity for our visitors to sign up for an interview for apprenticeships/recruitment.
