Empowering our colleagues ensures that OPM continues to be at the forefront of the international flexible packaging and labels industry.

Nurturing and developing the skillset of our employees is great for each individual, and in the long run for the OPM Group too. Training ensures our team become more confident, motivated, and productive, enabling them to grow at both a personal and professional level.

This is why 11 of our employees are embarking on the #WECAN (Women Empowered through Coaching and Networking) bespoke training programme, which is locally facilitated through Leeds Beckett University.

Over the next few months, our colleagues will embark on online training programmes on site and in their own time, in order to enhance their leadership, management, coaching and team skillsets. The training is supplied at no cost to the employee.

We are pleased our women employees are embarking on these types of programmes with #WECAN. The possibility of receiving an Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM) qualification is a great opportunity for each individual taking part.

#WECAN is subsidised through the European Social Fund with support from the Department of Work and Pensions. It aims to enhance the resilience and growth of small and medium-sized businesses in the Leeds City Region by building women’s leadership skills, capabilities, and opportunities.

ILM qualifications are highly valued because they give employees the theoretical knowledge and practical skills to coach and build successful teams with leadership knowledge. It also enables us to plan in preparing a succession strategy to ensure the company remains in capable hands with a workforce geared up for the future – both at a professional and personal level.

Ali Ward, our nominated #WE CAN guide visited OPM recently to discuss with the teams taking part the structure of the courses, webinars, and benefits to taking part in the programme that once registered is available as an online training portal for two years.

Nurturing and fostering talent at OPM is critical for the continued growth of the company. As our employees embark on programmes like those offered through #WECAN, we can create more opportunities for them within the company, as we continue to be a lean and efficient manufacturer.
