Zero Labels 2 Landfill Certification Awarded

On the path to creating a more sustainable packaging and label supply chain, OPM Group worked closely with recycling–led waste management company, Business Waste Ltd.

Introducing a variety of new processes and equipment to accommodate the waste being produced, as well as maximise efficiencies, the aim was to reduce the impact on the environment by utilising the latest technologies to divert waste from landfill sites.

In-house teams received training as to the wider and more long-term benefits to the environment of recycling, which is invaluable in helping the OPM Group team bear the ‘bigger picture’ in mind when advising clients on materials and substrates.

In further support of packaging and label sustainability, the OPM Group management team assists with staff training to help all team members gain a strong buy-in to segregation and its importance in keeping recyclate and recycled content clean, in order to achieve the highest levels of recycling.

The certificates were issued by Business Waste and confirm that OPM’s waste is being treated according to the scheme compliance requirements.

WASTE AND WASTE DISPOSAL

OPM holds an accreditation for BRCGS Global Packaging Materials Standard and Protocol for Companies Manufacturing and Supplying Food Packaging Materials for Retailer Branded Products. With regard to ‘Waste and Waste Disposal’, the accreditation recommends that OPM obtains written agreement from the ‘trademark holder’ for the disposal of excess and sub-standard production. Wastepack (EA) (or another appointed contractor of OPM) removes OPM’s waste. OPM’s EPR Scheme Number is EPR0428 and organization ID is 104 746.
